I’m Pregnant

I have never really known how to tell people this so there you are. First of all sorry to all the people I should have called personally, and then sorry to all the people I have talked to recently without telling you, I really don’t know how to just blurt it out.

I am 16 weeks along, due November 19th. We have the big appointment to make sure everything is healthy and the gender in a couple weeks. I have been sick since week 8, but I count this as a blessing, the few days I have felt completely okay I start to go into a bit of a panic.

Needless to say we are very excited. This pregnancy has been very long awaited and not without its’ struggles. Many of you may remember about a year and a half ago when we found out we were going to CT, let’s just say I was just a little less than excited and surprised. Rick was surprised, but then really felt it was where we were suppose to be. I didn’t really get it until Rick had his first week here at orientation. While they were filling out their health insurance forms, they started explaining the coverage and we learned that infertility was completely covered, for those of you who don’t know it is RARELY covered and EXTREMELY expensive. Needless to say we both immediately knew why we had been sent here.

It is such an overwhelming and life consuming process. After several failed attempts with other procedures we moved on to IVF. It is an intense treatment that includes daily self injections (sometimes up to 3 per day) for 2 months, a minor surgery, and several days of bed rest. The procedure has about a 50 % success rate and we were really lucky it worked on the first try.

The first several weeks were a bit terrible. I didn’t feel sick, but the clinic had me come in for blood work every other day to check my HCG levels which are suppose to double every 48 hours. They were not close to doing that, which is a good indicator of a miscarriage. Slowly my levels started going up and they finally gave me the green light and sent me to a regular OB at ten weeks. It is really hard to go from ultrasounds every other day to hearing a heartbeat every few weeks, I am a BIG worrier.

This would have been impossible without some of the best people I have met here in CT who would always take my calls and watch Wyatt last minute, sometimes everyday without asking a lot of questions, thank you. It has been an overwhelming experience, I am so grateful for the good friends I have had to talk to that are going through the same thing and hope and pray things will work soon for them too. I really don’t know why we are so lucky, we already have an amazing little boy when so many people are still waiting for their first child; we feel very blessed.

Janae,

I just got chills...congrats. I guess I can finally get over the fact that you are not here in Nashville with us. You are where you were meant to be.

Love you all!

Okay--first of all congrats! Second of all, CRYING! You can't do that to a pregnant lady!

I really wish I could have helped with Wyatt or anything else the last few months. Please know that once we are "normal" again, Wyatt is welcome to be a regular visitor to our house. :)

Congratulations! I think that it so wonderful that you were successful. I love to see the reason that Heavenly Father has for putting us in certain places at different times. It is wonderful to see the blessing after the trials we go through. Our prayers are with you as you go through the pregnancy.

Congratulations!! What exciting news. (It is sometimes awkward to work such things into conversation! Funny.) I can only imagine the physical and emotional toll that IVF causes, and I think you are amazing for going through all that. You are a great mom, and while I'm sure it will all be worth it to you, I have no doubt it will be well worth it for that little one who gets to join your family. Congrats!

Congratulations Janae! I wanted to let you know that I am pregnant too,due Nov.20th! How crazy is that? Our due date is only 1 day apart! Too bad we live on the other side of the country from each other because it would be nice to have a friend that is in the same boat as me. I have felt really sick this whole pregnancy too and I feel like every woman I talk to about being sick while pregnant has never felt that way. They look at me like I'm crazy! I'm so excited that everything has worked out for you and your family in CT!
