Rick's Surgery

So today for the second time in a year our family headed to the UCLA surgery center. This time Rick had a hernia operation. We feel so blessed that he was able to have it today. The surgery had already been postponed and we were worried that the stomach flu the day before would have postponed it again, but he checked out and everything went really well. Rick had a little trouble after waking up, he passed out on me and his blood pressure dropped to 70/35, but eventually everything worked out. He really cannot move at all and it will probably be like that for a few days, then he will be limited in his movement for a couple weeks, he will be fully recovered (able to wake board) in about six months. We are glad that we are now on the road to recovery. Sorry that I haven't returned peoples calls today, but we got home pretty late and it took awhile to settle in. I just thought I would let everyone know that all is well.

Jake tried to call this morning to see if he was approved for the surgery. When we didn't hear back we assumed all was fine with going ahead. Glad all went well. We'll bring over a treat tomorrow for poor Ricky!

That's a classic picture and probably a moment Rick will wish to forget. Glad the surgery was successful. Good luck on the recovery.
