The last time we were in Utah, it was 2010 and Owen was younger than Clara. We were pretty excited to get the chance to go visit family this year and introduce Clara to everyone. The boys were SOOO excited for the plane ride and it was a good thing because is was me vs. three kids on the way there.
Our flight out of Hartford ended up being delayed an hour, meaning we could miss our connection so we were rebooked turning what was to be a 7.5 hour day into a 13 hour day.
Fortunately the kids were great flyers and we did not run out of diapers. Wyatt slept through the second flight,
and Owen only had one total melt down when I had to wake him from a nap in his stroller to get on the second plane.
We arrived and Clara got straight to business doing what she does best, being cute and snuggling with Grandma. We arrived for the 24th of July and had a BBQ with everyone. It was a little sad at the beginning when my boys really did not know anyone's names, but they picked them up quick. I need to be better about showing them pictures.
The next day we headed to one of our vacations within the vacation. My parents go condos at the Solitude resort for 3 nights and we had lots of fun. The pool was a big hit.
Owen lost all fear of the water.
If you don't believe me just watch this.
I don't have pictures of one of the best parts. There was a water slide that the boys LOVED.
Clara was a bit of a rock star in the pool. When she was in the cousins would follow.
The boys loved shaving with Grandpa every morning,
and Clara loved being adored by Liz and Alicia. They even painted her toenails for the first time.
So much fun was being had by all that Clara was so tuckered out she would not wake up for a picture with her cousins no matter what I tried. Again I love that they can sleep anywhere.
All the cousins made shirts with spray paint, some were even prepared for Levi and Jack in Seattle, who are the only ones missing from the picture below. We missed you Plasters!
The Olympics started while we were at Solitude and we celebrated in style with our own games. Prior to the events we made our own flags. Suzy and Grandma may have helped Owen a little.
Wyatt made his "Police for America" all by himself, perhaps looking over at Isaac's for a "little" inspiration.
We played games.
Alicia got caught in an explosion of stickers.
We watched movies. The purpose of this picture was to show Owen holding Jake's hand. Owen may have attached himself completely to Jake, he would ask where he was each morning when he woke up.
Owen needed to rest up for the games and he wanted to try out Clara's bed.
Then it was time for our Olympics, here is our parade of nations.
At the games. Owen loves accessories
Thanks Alicia and Liz for making sure Clara Country was represented.
Then during the real opening ceremonies awards were handed out by Grandma.
It was a great 1st week in Utah. The best part was that Rick arrived that Sunday night! He was greeted by everyone at my parents house with a popsicle party.

Janae, thanks for blogging about your trip to Utah. We had a blast with everyone here. We really did miss having Brandon, Karen, Jack, and Levi with us.
so fun! I would be super concerned about running out of diapers during a trip like that too!! also, How do you get your kids to fall asleep like that?
Your family does the coolest things!!! The pic of Clara upside down is so funny. 13 hour travel day???? You are an awesome mom with awesome kids!
