I am your dentist!

Today I went in for a cleaning from Dr. Rick. I am his back up patient whenever he has an open spot and I can find a sitter for Wyatt (thanks again, Marissa). Today I had my teeth cleaned for the first time in (I am a little ashamed to admit this) . . . . .3 years! Rick has told me that I am not the best patient because I complain a lot. While this might be true I don’t think he can totally understand how scary it is to have him work on my teeth. I guess I remember too well the days before dental school when he didn’t know how to properly clean teeth. There was some pain, he claims this to be my fault for not flossing as regularly as one should, but who knows he could be making all that up. I am proud to say that I did survive the appointment and he did a great job! I think it is just surprising for me to go to him because he does everything regular dentists are suppose to do in a check up, but my childhood dentist never did half of those things.

Today while I couldn’t help being scared in the dental chair I kept thinking of Steve Martin in ‘Little Shop of Horror.’ For all those of you who know dentists well, you may get a kick out of the “Dentist” song from the movie. If this intrigues anyone to see the whole show, Rick and I have a copy you can borrow anytime. Happy Flossing!

I have never seen that video--it's hilarious!!! That's totally what going to the dentist is like! Sorry, Rick! :) I'm glad you have clean teeth, Janae!

That video made my teeth hurt just watching it! I guess it's a good thing you have such a good dentist in the family- you can let Rick have it when he starts poking in your mouth with that stupid metal pick thing that they use!

I had a similar experience when Morris cleaned my teeth. I told him he was the worst dentist I have ever had to which he replied "you are the worst patient I have ever had". I guess we are even then.

That was a really funny clip. I may have to take you up on borrowing the movie, given that I will be stuck inside all weekend on AC duty.

Sad to admit, I haven't been to the dentist since I was pregnant. I really should go...but NOT to a dentist like in the Little Shop of Horror!
