The Tiny Tri

If you are wondering why I have been blogging so much it has been so I could catch up and post about this!

It seems like all the people around us in CT are triathletes. We may need to use more than one hand to count the number of Ironmen (women) we know. Every Tuesday there is a small triathlon in the evening at Winding Trails. Mike and Rick decided to jump on the bandwagon and become triathletes themselves, with no training mind you. They wisely decided to start small with the tiny tri (200 yd swim, 5 K bike, 3 K run) at Winding Trails. That is why they have the 'T' before their numbers. Rick told me the woman who registered him for the tiny one was almost laughing at him, people here are hardcore. Don't worry Mike had his game face on.
Dan was there to mentor them, he ran in the big one.
It was pouring east coast style almost the entire time. Wyatt was not a happy camper.
Mike and Rick getting ready for the swim.
The rest of the competitors.
And the race is on, Rick is right in the middle.
Starting the bikes.
Owen trying to stay dry.
It was pretty muddy on the bike trail.
They survived, barely!

Team Timex made a stop at Five Guys to refuel.
Really they were good sports and I thought it was quite impressive that they could do it cold turkey, I know would not have been able to. And now I understand the itch to do it. It made me kind of think about trying to do the tiny tri at some point during our time here, I don't know about that swim though, especially now that my potential swim coach has moved.

Now for the best part, the videos. They are hilarious and worth the time it took me to upload them, and don't worry they laughed when they saw them too.

Rick finishing the swim

Mike finishing the swim.

Rick after the swim

Finishing the bikes.

Crossing the finish line, they finished in just about an hour.

Marissa, if you will come do it with me I will definitely commit. It is every Tuesday night come rain or shine as long as there is no lightning, and the tiny tri is only $10.

I may regret saying this, but I've been itching to do a tiny tri. If you want to train for one I'll do it with you!

I would love to do a tiny tri!!! I've been wanting to do a sprint tri...but I don't like to bike or run. I guess I should just join a swim team. :)

Those videos were really funny. :D
