Rick's parents came for a visit at the beginning of February. We spent several days with them in our home were they went to work helping us fix things up. Sue put her incredible sewing and decorating skills to use. She made the curtains that are now in our living room so we are no longer living in a fish bowl. She also made a great table runner and ran around to a ton of stores with me helping me pick out decor for the house. We now have things on the walls and little decor all around. I would post pictures of it, but I will admit that my house is not picture ready right now, maybe tomorrow.
Ned put his electrical skills to work. He finished changing all the outlets in our house. Added can lights to the kitchen. And he sorted out all the crossed wires in our three way switches. Plus he hung my new bamboo blinds in my room and and Wyatt's, again neither are picture ready right now.
Aren't we the best hosts, I am sure you are all jumping at the chance to visit now. We did try to do something in CT, we went to the Connecticut Historical Society were there was a nice display about the Amistad, but I don't think it is worth a second visit or first if you haven't been there yet. They will have to visit again when it warms up a little bit.
Then we were off to NYC. We went to Union Square,
we met the Lees for dinner at Max Brenner's,
went to Time Square,
took a walk through Central Park.
Rick and his dad walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, while Sue and I went to lunch and let Wyatt take a nap.
We went on the Circle Line,
visited ground zero, which has changed so much from the last time I saw it five years ago.
Here are the Shamos on Wall Street.
We had a great time, and were sad we had to leave early for Rick to get to his Med School class. They were able to go to the United Nations, the Natural History Museum, The Letterman Show, and Wicked after we left. It was fun to have visitors, and we are so grateful for all they did to the house, we hope they will come visit again soon, next time we promise to not work on the house.
