So I have once again neglected the blog and this is going to be a gigantic post. It seems like nothing really bloggable has happened lately, but as I was downloading the pictures off my camera today, I realized we really are doing things. Anyway on to the updates. I am remembering things based on pictures, so anything that has happened that has no picture to accompany it has been forgotten, sorry.
We have now been living in CT for almost 2 months (almost 1/36th of the time we will be here, perhaps it is still a little too early to start counting). The first few weeks were really hard. We had nothing (no furniture, no kitchen stuff, only the suitcases we had fit in the Jeep) from June 17-July 4.

Poor Wyatt did really well, here he is eating on his box/suitcase/table/main toy. It got really bad when my back went completely out for a few days. I had a back problem in high school and I think the combination of sleeping on an air mattress for a few weeks and having no chairs ultimately got to me. Fortunately, Rick was still in orientation and was not on call yet so he was able to help me out a bunch.

Mid back injury we discovered our apartment had ...roaches ... yes it was very disgusting so we had to have it sprayed, meaning I had to be out of the apartment for 4 hrs (we still hadn't had our second car delivered) so I wandered around our little town in the rain with Wyatt for a few hours. Here we are stopping in at the Carvel to get out of the worst of the rain.

We have discovered some really neat things about CT. My favorite may be the park near our apartment. Every Thurs. they have a local band come and play a free concert near the playgrounds. There are tons of families that go and have picnics and listen to the music. On Fri. nights they have movies in the ampitheater, where you lay out a blanket and watch a movie under the stars.

Every time Rick and I go to this park we feel like we are living in small town USA in the 1950s (I think it may have to do with the pool that is just like the one in 'The Sandlot' in the middle of the park) and we LOVE it. Speaking of the USA we did celebrate the 4th of July by getting our stuff, HOORAY!! Rick was on call, but Wyatt and I did eat hot dogs, watch fireworks, and lite a few sparklers.
We have been on a few fun outings with friends. I think Wyatt may have a bit of a crush; he absolutely loves his new friend Abby and her brother Peter. We went to the Dinosaur Park where you can see a bunch of real dinosaur tracks.

We also picked blueberries. Wyatt was so funny picking blueberries, I don't know how many he actually ate, but it was a lot because it caused him some potty issues for days, sorry that was probably too much information. Thanks to a lot of instruction from Amy I turned our handpicked blueberries into a made from scratch blueberry/sour cream/meringue pie. Needless to say I am just a little proud of myself. Itwas not only edible, it was REALLY good. I even tried to take one of those fancy pictures people take of food they have made to put it on the blog, but our junky camera just made it look a little sad.
Britney, I kept thinking how I wish you were here so we could have you over to try it sour cream and all ;)Wyatt and I go to the pool at our apartment complex a LOT. Here are a few pictures.

Wyatt has become obsessed with stopping to smell flowers near our apartment, which is sweet, but really scary because there are TONS of bees and I swear they are the size of quarters here.

Wyatt's other new favorite thing is forts. He have been building lots of forts, here are a couple. Also how could I not brag about his scooter riding abilities, in heels mind you.

We have had some great news last month. Notice I have hid this near the end of the post, that's right you are almost done, because Rick told me I could not post about this I could only tell people who asked me directly. So what I need all of you to do is think of asking me about what Rick has been studying for non stop for the past 6 months. I am now going to assume that you all asked me about his test. Rick passed the USMLE!!!!!

I cannot tell you how excited we are that he passed. We have been really worried. It was really close and we know that the only thing that pushed his score over the edge was the fact that so many people were praying for him, so thank you. Here we are out at dinner celebrating. Rick if you are reading this I am sorry I am just so proud of you I couldn't help myself.
In other really BIG news- we are buying a house! We are really excited. It is a 3 bedroom 1 bath (this make me a little worried) fixer upper that is about 3 minutes from UCONN. I have lots of pictures of the house so that will have to be another post on another day this has gone on long enough.

Janae I am so glad you did a new post. I was excited to see your apartment. Ii looks nice. I cannot beleive how big Wyatt is getting. In just 2 1/2 months he seems bigger. I love talking to him on the phone. The pie looked delicious. You'll have to send me the recipe.
CONGRATULATIONS RICK!!!! It is always so fun to read your new posts. You always seem to find fun things to do with Wyatt wherever you are. Keep those updates coming, we love to hear what you and your family is doing.
It was good to catch up. I'm glad to find that you guys are enjoying CN a little more!
So good to hear from you Janae. Those first weeks sound pretty tough. The park, amphitheater, concerts, and pool look and sound awesome! I lived in Washington state when I was younger and we lived near a blueberry patch-it is still one of my favorite childhood memories! Congratulations Rick and good luck with your residency.

Please congratulate Rick for us...that is awesome. It sounds like you're starting some great memories over there. Thanks for the updates.
I see that you choose to celebrate in the finest resturant in CT. Congrats again to Rick. Thanks for the update.
So many exciting things!!! Congrats to Rick--we are SO happy...but we always knew he could do it. :) We're glad that you and Wyatt are getting along okay and finding fun things to do! And happy that you're finding friends! We miss you guys!
I wish I could have tried your pie! EVERYTHING you make is delicious, sour cream and all! Crazy Britney. :)
Oh...since Wyatt found a new girlfriend, does that mean Lucas gets to marry Brooke?? :)
Wyatt and Abby sitting in a tree K.I.S.S.I.N.G. That picture of them holding hands is so cute. And I laughted out loud when you described the bees as a quarter size...I can totally hear you say it. Janae, we really miss you here.
This is sooo exciting about the test! YEAH!!! It looks like you guys have been keeping busy. That is good. The flowers and bees can be a little scary. Liz was stung the other day and it was not pleasant. Talk to you guys soon.
Congrats on everything- passing the exam, buying a house, not getting stung (yet) by bee's :) Your family is so cute. We miss you here in Vegas (but are very excited to see pictures of your new house sometime)
Yea! a new post! (I should talk) I figured you guys have been pretty busy, but I've been getting some updates from mom and dad when I can. Way to go Rick! He really got a lion share of the smarts in this family-I think. But, I recognize that it's not just smarts that helped him pass that test- lots and lots of hard work as well as prayers. It's a good thing he's not afraid of hard work. I look forward to seeing pics of your house. I bet it'll look great by the time you get through with it.
Yeah for forts!! This post made me happy...someone once said that the problem with youth today is that they spend too much time playing video games and not enough building forts--obviously they had never met Wyatt! Glad you are liking UCONN... wish you were here though!
Hey, how did Rick do on the USMLE? REALLY?!?! Congrats!! I love his "this guy" pose. My other favorite was the one of Wyatt with his favorite table/box/main toy. Still laughing about that one! Glad you finally posted some CT pics! Now we just need to come see it for ourselves!
Congrats to Rick on passing his test! I have no idea what it's even about- but I'm excited that it means you guys are continuing to move forward! Yay! And congrats on the new house- I can't wait to see a few pictures.
