So Connecticut is apparently the land of weekend trips, it seems to be pretty much 1 1/2 hours away from everything. Rick had the Saturday before the 4th of July off and we decided to go see the sites in Boston, instead of sticking around our (at that point) unfurnished apartment. We decided to walk the freedom trail. The freedom trail is a 3 mile brick path that leads you through Boston to most of the historical sites. Here were are at the beginning at Boston Commons, apparently the oldest park in the country. You can see the capital in the background celebrating the Celtics win over the Lakers, yes this was awhile ago.

We stopped at a old graveyard that I have now forgotten the name of and and too lazy to google it. We saw the burial site of Paul Revere, Ben Franklin, and Samuel Adams.

Here we are with a couple statutes, can you guess who they are, or if you look close you can see their names.

Paul Revere's house.

Old Iron Sides, the U.S.S Constitution, the oldest war ship (is that what you call them? it sounds wrong, oh well). I would have to say this may have been the highlight. The big monument is the Bunker Hill Memorial.

Who is this guy? I thought it was FDR, but Rick told me it was not.

Wyatt was a trooper, but pretty tired at the end, I don't know why, we were the ones doing all the walking.

The last stop in our Boston trip was to see the temple. I had been here before when they still would not allow the spire. It is a beautiful temple, I only wish it wasn't two hours away.

We got totally lost on the way and were getting really frustrated, but a big thanks to Karen and Brandon for guiding us over the phone, nor the best picture, but after searching forever we had to prove we did find it.

I hadn't heard that you had made a trip to Boston. It sounds like a lot of walking. I have done it also and it is a lot of fun to see the sights of Boston. Wyatt was a trooper to do all of that.
How cool you are so close to all that history! We definitely need to go there to visit. Ryan is actually applying to UConn so who knows what will happen. That was so funny we ran into you guys on the 15. Glad you made it all the way across the country safely. We miss you!!
I AM SO JEALOUS! Chris & I were just talking today about how much we miss Boston. e-mail me next time you go and we can tell you about our favorite places (did you know we lived there for 6 yrs?) Man we miss it! You are going to love living in New England. Good luck!
xoxo
Looks like a fun little trip. I'm glad you finally made it to the temple!
Looks like you guys aren't wasting any time in taking advantage of your new surroundings. Everybody says that everything is so close when you live in New England. BTW Zach keeps wondering if you guys are in the same ward as Glenn Beck b/c he figures he lives somewhere there in Conn.
And, I'm glad you guys heard about us- I hate making big announcements, but I wanted you guys to know before I told everyone else. I figured you'd heard, but wasn't sure- so it's a relief that you were informed.
What a great trip! Greg did this once while on business. He says it is a neat place to visit.
It sounds like you had a great trip.
Boston was John and my favorite vacation! I loved it there. We did the bus tour where you could get off and on at the different places. I admire your young legs that can walk the entire trail. I liked Old Ironsides also. I love the way the Navy takes care of it and all the security you go through just to see it.
What a fun weekend getaway! I remember doing the same walk with Grandma when she and Grandpa were back there, and then we had the most scrumptious dinner near Boston Commons. I'm glad to see you guys are livin' it up!
This looks like such a fun trip. That's great that you are just 1 1/2 hours away. We're about 12 hours away from anything cool, except for Chicago of course.
Why does everyone but me do fun stuff? I am so happy you are enjoying yourself. JT does not like to see pictures of you guys having fun without him so I will not tell him to look:)
What a fun trip! I love the picture of the temple.
How great to be so close to so many fun places. We came to love Boston when we spent 2 weeks there when Mom & Dad were working at the temple. Chase was a little younger than Wyatt when we were there and it brings back lots of great memories.
