The Potty Train

About a week and a half ago Wyatt came up to me and declared he was "poopie," I checked his diaper and he wasn't so I thought 'hey, maybe he needs to go,' and I put him on the toilet. Much to our surprise he went and thought it was great! He kept telling me throughout the day and it was a really positive experience that first day. So the next Monday I decided if we are going to do this we are going all the way so it was big boy underwear all day. By the end of the day I had had it and I think Wyatt had too so I stopped for a few days. Then he came back on his own and started telling me again so we started back up. He has been doing really well. This morning he completed his first "Potty Train" track with stickers, and he already has 7 stickers on the next one; today was a good day! As a prize for finishing his chart he got a new blanket which he is really excited about, he says it is "soft" (this gift was mainly for me because I needed a back up blanket so the other one could be washed more frequently). He is doing well and wears underwear around our house, I haven't mustered up enough courage to let him wear them out of the house yet. This picture is him showing me how strong he is in his big boy underwear (notice it has to be rolled because they don't make it small enough for our skinny Wyatt).

I was unsure if I wanted this to happen so soon I keep thinking about driving to CT and having to stop every 20 minutes for a potty break, but in the end if Wyatt is ready he is ready. Who knows, maybe he will be completely potty trained by his second birthday!
