February

So I have decided I can keep up with a monthly post and feel pretty good about that. Especially when we are not really doing anything exciting, just basically surviving the dreary days of general surgery. But here is an update of each member of our family this month.

CLARA
Clara is amazing! I cannot say it enough, she is a great baby. She is so smiley, even if she is sick and miserable she will smile at you. She is 4 months old. We went to her check up and learned she is pretty much the average size a 4 month old should be. 50th percentile in everything, 13 lbs, 24.5 in, and I always forget the head circumference, but it was 50th percentile too. I did learn why she has always seemed a little "weaker" than the boys. She is not close to rolling over and can barely pick her head off the floor when she is on her tummy. After checking her out the pediatrician declared that she has low tone. It is genetic (probably from me) nothing can be done about it, it isn't a problem. It just means she will most likely hit her baby milestones later than most, and she will most likely be very flexible, sounds a lot like her brother Wyatt.*I am realizing most of my pictures of Clara are in this chair, I promise she doesn't sit here all day, but I keep my camera on a shelf nearby so it makes for easy picture taking.

OWEN
Owen, Owen, Owen. He is very much in the midst of the terrible twos. Why do I not remember it being so bad with Wyatt? Have I just blocked it out? Probably. One of the daily struggles we have is with his pajamas. He has "monkey jammies" and "ball jammies" that are favorites and if they are not available there is a meltdown. There is another meltdown when said jammies need to be removed for regular clothing. He will carrying them around screaming for me to put them back on. One day I put his arms through them to see if it would help, not so much.Owen has been sick several times this month. This poor boy. If he gets a little runny nose it takes him out for days with his breathing problems. He has become really good with his nebulizer treatments and even starts and stops them himself now. He is a real trooper, at least that is what I keep telling myself.

While Owen can be quite the handful, when he is sweet he is the sweetest. He is a pretty amazing snuggler. He is always so concerned about Clara, he will come running if she is crying and say "baby Clara sad." One of the only ways we can trick him out of a meltdown is by asking him to evaluate if Clara is happy or sad.

WYATT
This month Wyatt competed with Rick in our Ward's Pinewood Derby race. They had an exhibition race where there where no rules. Rick and Wyatt added a motor to their car and made it remote controlled. Wyatt ended up winning the judges pick for best in show even though he didn't win his heat.Wyatt wanted Clara to be his valentine and made her this card at school. He told her she had the key to his heart.
This month we started giving Wyatt an allowance, mainly to help him learn about paying tithing. He earns $0.50/week. He had a couple days off school this month and wanted to paint a birdhouse he had seen at Micheal's. He was so cute. He got his piggy bank (even cut out the coupon from the Sunday paper) and bought it all by himself at the store. He spent two days painting it making sure all the wood was well covered so it could be protected by the paint. We haven't seen any birds in it yet, but he is sure they have been there. It is so fun to watch him learning so much in school. I am so impressed with how far he has come in his reading skills and he is constantly making up addition problems for himself and asking me if they are right. Here he is working with his mind blowing science kit creating crystals.
RICK
Rick works and works and works, then sleeps a little, then works and works and works some more. He is on general surgery this year. He thinks it is interesting, but very quickly points out how glad he is that it is not what he will be doing forever and how grateful he is to be doing oral surgery. I am always amazed at how positive he always is even with little or not sleep for days.

Yes he was asleep when I snapped this shot, the flash might have woken him up, but they just looked so sweet.Perhaps one of the most interesting/funny things to report about Rick has to do with his car. The Passat is trying to die, but we will not let it happen. It got some water damage awhile back and has not been the same since. The battery dies if you don't start it within a couple hours of the last time it was driven. So Rick jumps it or bump starts it every time he drives. It is always so funny to hear about his tales from the parking lot when he gets home and the looks he gets pushing it down an incline with his foot out the driver side door. This electrical problem also seems to effect the locks and the car will randomly lock when Rick is going out to shut the hood after jumping it, while it is still running. So we have been locked out of the car while it is running more times than I would like to mention. In semi related news if anyone needs a new car insurance carrier let me recommend Geico. They will send someone to unlock your car free of charge an unlimited amount of times. In other news if anyone happens to find an extra VW key we may be looking for one that was last seen in Owen's hand.

JANAE
I am pretty much the same. Nothing really exciting to report, except that I joined the YMCA out here. Some of you may remember my love of the YMCA in LA. I always thought is was just a little too far for us here, but I have given in and remember why I loved it so much. The kids love it too. We have been trying to go swimming two times a week and they really seem to enjoy it.

So there you have it until next month or who knows maybe I will post again even sooner ;)
