The first days of fall!

This is what CT is looking like right now. I think this is my favorite part of fall, when there is still a lot of green left, but the edges of trees are starting to change.
To celebrate the official arrival of fall we went to this Apple Orchard yesterday.
We had the place to ourselves and picked some apples.

And ate some apples.

Owen loved his apple and was not a happy camper when I took it away.
We also had a visitor in our backyard yesterday. I think I have mentioned this before, but I really feel like we live in the wild out here with all the animals that wander through our yard. Rick told me this was an eagle, I thought it was a hawk, Rick claims it was too big to be a hawk. Any fowl experts out there that can break the tie?
Whatever it was it was pretty intense and plucking the feathers out of it's prey and consuming it.
Leaving a big mess in our backyard that I have been avoiding.
A little footage of him (or her) in action.

I guess we have something besides the fox to scare Wyatt with now.

I love Owen & Wyatt's matching crocks! I don't know anything about birds but I'm taking your side just because.

Janae, that is a hawk in your backyard. I loved the picture of Owen standing next to the tree and then of the two boys eating their apples. Owen is growing up so fast.

Keith thinks it's an immature red tail hawk and I think the pictures of the boys eating apples at the orchard are pretty cute!

I can't believe Owen is standing! I didn't know he could do it (or would do it rather!)

Eagle or hawk it doesn't matter. It is still a big bird eating animals in your backyard!

Wow, how I wish we were there right now ... the apple picking, colors changing; there's definitely no place like New England!

Gorgeous!!!! I am really sad about living in Vegas and missing fall colors! I agree with what everyone else said about the boys--they are so grown-up and handsome! I would definitely say hawk, but I don't really know anything about birds!
