The BIG 2-6

So yesterday I had one of the best birthdays ever. Let me just set up the scenario: Last year on my Birthday Rick was still frantically studying for Boards so my 25th birthday consisted of Rick waking me up early before he went off to school/studying asking "Hey did you ever get yourself a gift?" I then directed him to the shopping bag with the shirt I had bought myself a few days before which he handed to me in the plastic bag. Before you start feeling bad for me let me just tell you a I spent the rest of the day at the Happiest Place on Earth with Wyatt so the day was not a total bust.

So this year I think Rick was feeling some pressure to make up some ground so he went all out. I woke up to Wyatt and Rick singing and bearing gifts. He gave me an ipod nano! It is pretty sweet and even plays videos, I must admit I am still getting over the stress of what it must have cost, but he is so sweet and says it is to make up for last year so I am working on getting over it. To add to the sweetness Rick spent 2am-3am putting all my country music on it so it would be ready first thing in the morning. Then Rick was off to help with a move or so I thought. He did help with the move, but then he was also secretly making me a cake. More History: I am always getting on Rick's case because since we have been married I have never had a Birthday Cake on my actual birthday! Yes, others have made me cakes, but they have always been a day before or after. So Rick came home and surprised me with a triple layered cake made completely from scratch (even the frosting), no boxes, and completely by Rick, he had a little bit of guidance from his friend Will, but Rick did everything!! So when Rick came home he showed me the cake and roses and a UCLA sweatshirt. WHAT?!? I know and it still gets better.

We headed out to Disneyland for a few hours, then grabbed some pizza on the way home. It was the perfect day. Rick really outdid himself this year and I am starting to feel the pressure for his next birthday. I have the best family ever and they really made this the best birthday ever.

Another perk of the day is that Rick's sister Jamie had her baby early in the morning. So now I get to share my birthday with Jackson, we are anxiously awaiting pictures.
